Deakin University rides high on student preferences (18kb) 32kb

Deakin University has continued its impressive rise in popularity according to the latest VTAC (Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre) Change of Preference figures. The number of students who put Deakin as their first preference in 2009 for undergraduate studies has increased by 15 per cent compared to 2008.  The new figures make Deakin University one of the most popular universities in Victoria.

Deakin University welcomes Bradley Review of Higher Education (18kb) 32kb

The release of the Report of the Bradley Review of Higher Education this morning (Wednesday 17 December) has been welcomed by the Vice-Chancellor of Deakin University, Professor Sally Walker. Professor Walker said that many of the proposals reflect Deakin’s goals as set out in the University’s Strategic Plan – Delivering Effective Partnerships.

Deakin at your Doorstep – new Associate Degree program major boost for Deakin’s Warrnambool Campus (31kb) 32kb

Deakin University's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sally Walker announced today (Friday 12 December 2008) that the Australian Government has awarded Deakin an $8.21 million grant under the Diversity and Structural Adjustment Fund. The grant, the largest for a single project awarded to any university in Australia, has been provided for the innovative 'Deakin at your Doorstep' project.

Boost to Indigenous Education as Kitjarra Centre opens at Deakin (35kb) 32kb

Deakin University’s commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander tertiary education was affirmed today (Wednesday 10 December) with the opening of Deakin University’s new ‘Kitjarra’ Centre. The Centre, which includes residential units and a common room, provides a place for up to 60 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from different nations around Australia, to come together, share knowledge and learn while in residence for their various courses at Deakin’s Institute of Koorie Education.
